As part of the departmental seminar series organised by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Muhammet BANAZILI delivered a presentation entitled “The Effects of Violations of the Merit Principle on Human Psychology and a Merit-Based Policy Proposal” on 17 March 2026 at 11.00 a.m. in Classroom B-305.

The seminar examined the concept of merit within a theoretical framework and emphasised its importance in the context of public administration. The psychological effects of violations of the merit principle on individuals were also discussed in detail. In this context, the individual and organisational consequences of such violations were addressed through concepts including perceptions of justice, loss of motivation, and organisational commitment.

The presentation concluded with policy recommendations for strengthening a merit-based approach to public administration, drawing particular attention to the importance of transparency, accountability, and objective evaluation mechanisms.
