Conference on “Aviation as a Strategic Public Policy: Türkiye’s 20-Year Transformation and the Role of the DGCA” Held

The conference entitled “Aviation as a Strategic Public Policy: Türkiye’s 20-Year Transformation and the Role of the DGCA” was organised in cooperation with the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, the Department of Aviation Management, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Held at the Martyr First Lieutenant Ozan Olgu Köreke Conference Hall, the event addressed developments in Türkiye’s civil aviation sector over the past 20 years, the impact of public policies on the sector, and strategic goals for the future.

The invited speaker, Dr. Uğraş Çalışkan, discussed Türkiye’s growth in aviation and provided participants with comprehensive information about the regulatory and developmental role of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Dr. Çalışkan emphasised that civil aviation is of strategic importance not only for transportation but also for economic development, international competitiveness, and technological advancement.

The event was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yaman and Assist. Prof. Dr. Tugay Öney. Throughout the programme, students and academics followed the discussions on aviation policies, the current state of the sector, and future opportunities with great interest.

During the question-and-answer session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions about career opportunities in the civil aviation sector, technological transformation processes, and Türkiye’s position in international aviation.

The conference concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the speakers, followed by a group photo.
