In the conference organized by the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of our faculty, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil KANADIKIRIK, Lecturer from the Department of Common Courses. Assist. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem DUMAN SÜNER from the Department of Common Courses took part with her presentation titled “Atatürk and National Sovereignty”. In her speech, Prof. Dr. DUMAN SÜNER touched upon Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK's leadership qualities in guiding the society, the critical role of the congresses convened during the National Struggle, the National Assembly, which served under difficult conditions, and the strategic importance of newspapers of the period such as İrade-i Milliye and Hâkimiyet-i Milliye in terms of informing the public and keeping the national consciousness alive.


Another invited speaker of the conference, Dr. Habip OĞUZ, Rapporteur of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, met with the participants with his presentation titled “Constitutional Judiciary”. In his presentation, Dr. OĞUZ made evaluations on the functioning of the constitutional order and the place of judicial organs in the democratic system, and discussed the duties of the Constitutional Court, abstract and concrete norm controls.
